The Death of You and Me remete à sonoridade das últimas canções do Oasis, como The Importance of Being Idle. Esta similaridade também pode ser associada ao trabalho do produtor Dave Sardy, que também foi responsável pela produção dos dois últimos discos do Oasis, Don’t Believe The Truth e Dig Out Your Soul.
