Michael Eavis, fundador do festival britânico Glastonbury, organizará um festival em homenagem a Joe Strummer, ex-guitarrista do The Clash que morreu em 2002. O Strummer of Love Festival acontecerá no fim de semana do dia 17 a 19 de agosto deste ano, em Somerset, na Inglaterra, e contará com as bandas The Pogues, King Charles, The Farm e The Men They Couldn’t Hang, entre as atrações principais. O festival, que terá capacidade para 5 mil pessoas, contará com um espaço chamado Strummer School, em que os visitantes poderão conferir letras inéditas, setlists, rascunhos antigos e outros itens pessoais do músico.
Joe Strummer foi um dos principais nomes do punk inglês, na década de 70. Com a banda The Clash, ele compôs importantes hinos rebeldes como London’s Burning, London Calling e Spanish Bombs. Ele também participou das bandas The 101ers, Latino Rockabilly War, The Mescaleros e The Pogues.
