O disco ‘A Rush of Blood To The Haed’ do Coldplay, foi escolhido pelos ingleses como o melhor de 2002 na pesquisa entre leitores do semanário NME, voltado basicamente para o rock. Logo atrás vem o The Vines, com Highly Evolved, e The Streets, com Original Pirate Material.
A lista que conta com 50 nomes, colocou, por exemplo, o ‘Heathen Chemistry’ do Oasis em 26º lugar, atrás dos ícones americanos Eminem, Beck e Foo Fighters.
O Coldplay, segundo os próprios músicos, quase não produziram esse celebrado álbum em decorrência do ‘vazio de idéias’ do vocalista e compositor Chris Martin.
Já no segmento ‘The’ com novas bandas como The Strokes, The Hives, The White Stipes entre outros, quem mais se destacou foram os australianos do The Vines com seu álbum ‘Highly Evolved’ que misturou o rock de garagem, com uma levada um pouco mais pop.
